DRAWING ON COUNTRY

In partnership with Country Arts South Australia, Art Music Design Barossa was proud to present ‘Drawing on Country’ for 2019 with Ngadjuri man Uncle Quentin Agius and family. Through the medium of sand, Uncle Quentin guided local artists in story sharing and truth telling. Inspired by the day and what it meant for Reconciliation in the Barossa, these artists then spent three months reflecting on what they had shared before exhibiting their final pieces at Vasse Virgin Seppeltsfield.

Mosaic artist Kristin Wohlers shared her thoughts:

I have been living in the Barossa now for almost 10 years and have always been wanting to get more in touch with the local Aboriginal knowledge, customs. Quentin Agius and his brother Barry brought the history a little bit closer - opened the door for me. How beautiful to sit in the reconciliation area and listen, talk and explore!
